I’m finally recalibrating from my recent trip to Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo where I had the opportunity to attend the Salaam Kivu International Film Festival (SKIFF) put on by Yole!Africa. Thanks largely to the work of Pierce Freelon (dope MC, activist, professor extraordinaire) I was able to take part in some pretty incredible hip-hop focused workshops for some of Goma’s finest MCs and producers. As though the experience weren’t amazing enough, I got word today that our work was just highlighted by the NPR show PRI’s the World! You can read the full write-up and listen to the interview with Pierce HERE. Then after you check out the interview, look below for the first of two videos featuring a collaborative track we made while in Goma. Leave comments if you can so they’ll have us back!
