This past weekend I once again witnessed the power of my wonderful network. Thanks to a tweet from the homie Jamie Broadnax of Black Girl Nerds, I was put on the radar of Son of Baldwin, a really great literary, socio-political, sexual, pop culture blog. After a few exchanges, I was surprised to get a follow from Son of Baldwin. No less than a few minutes later, Bandcamp let me know that they had just purchased Another M! I was so elated I even posted about it on Facebook. The next day imagine my surprise when Son of Baldwin devoted a whole Facebook post to discussing our exchange and expressing support. They had this to say about my skills: “Homegirl is SICK wit’ it. Her flow is niiiiiiiiiiice and her lyrics are so intelligent and fun and complicated and clever.” So 150+ new likes and TONS of Bandcamp sales later I’m still sitting pretty on cloud nine. The moral of the story — surround yourself with people who believe in what you do!
