I have dreamt of producing music for video games since I was a young’n, so-much-so that I used to listen to the soundtrack for Final Fantasy VII and Sonic II daily for an entire summer to determine what it was about each song that I loved so much, in the hopes of replicating these same effects. Well, I can say, after over 10 years of waiting, I have finally produced music and all sound-effects for a student-designed video game called [Artificer].
Through my job at the ORIE [Operations Research & Information Engineering] office at Cornell I was introduced to two students at the beginning of the fall semester, who were designing a Tron-inspired puzzle-like sci-fi video game, and after sending them a sample of my production, was asked to develop the music and sound effects. Although the game was still in beta-mode, our team won first place at the 2011 Winter Showcase held by the Game Design Initiative at Cornell [GDIAC]. Here are some screenshots:
