#BLACKLIVESMATTER DAY OF HEALING

Over the past few months I have been working with some community organizers to plan a local event that provides safe space for Black people amidst the terrifying acts of anti-Black racism that plague us daily. After several planning meetings I’m excited to invite those in need to the #BlackLivesMatter Day of Healing, which will be held on Friday July 31st from 4:00pm – 8:00pm at the Southside Community Center (305 S. Plain Street) as part of the Congo Square Market. For those unfamiliar, Congo Square Market is a collaborative organization with the mission of encouraging community and personal health. As such, Congo Square Market is well positioned to facilitate an event that reflects the mission of the #BlackLivesMatter movement. In addition to writing workshops that will be faciliated by me and fellow artist Dubian Ade, there will be food from local vendors, performances, healing sessions, opportunities to dialogue, and a resource fair. To stay on top of the details, make sure you visit Congo Square Market’s facebook page. And for more information on #BlackLivesMatter, visit blacklivesmatter.com
