Last month I was asked to perform at a Trayvon Martin Vigil here in Ithaca, NY, put together by the Shawn Greenwood Working Group, an organization dedicated to educating the community about the system-wide racism within the prison industry, the ways impoverished communities of color suffer from extra policing and profiling, and the connections between poverty and racism.
